第二届云南大学天文学学科优秀大学生暑期夏令营活动顺利举行

The 2nd Summer Camp in Astronomy of Yunnan University Held

        2023年7月10-11日，第二届云南大学天文学学科优秀大学生暑期夏令营活动在呈贡校区天文楼举行。来自云南大学、山东大学、西华师范大学、天津师大、曲靖师范学院、宁波大学、西南民族大学、河南工程学院等8所高校的21名学员参加了此次夏令营。

       开幕式上，云南大学中国西南天文研究所（简称研究所）所长刘晓为教授对云南大学天文学的学科发展以及刚刚建成的1.6米多通道测光巡天望远镜做了简要介绍。活动期间，范祖辉教授、陈丙秋副教授、夏莼教授、杨元培副教授及林伟康副研究员分别就宇宙学、银河系近场宇宙学、高能天体物理和时域天文学以及观测天文学等优势学科方向作了精彩的学术讲座。活动第二天刘德子副研究员组织同学们利用研究所1.6米望远镜所观测的超新星数据，学习并实践了天文数据分析，亲身体验了天文学研究的工作内容。在随后的座谈会上，部分在读研究生向学员们分享了各自在云南大学学习和当初考研备考的经历。刘晓为教授、范祖辉教授为学员传授了天文学的学习经验、回答了有关1.6米多通道测光巡天望远镜等方面的问题。

      通过学术报告、数据实习、经验分享等活动安排，学员们加深了对云南大学天文学科的了解，多人表达了对云南大学天文学科的浓厚兴趣以及报考研究生的愿景。

 

    The second summer camp for excellent undergraduate students in astronomy was held from 10th to 11th, July 2023 at Chenggong campus, YNU. Twenty-one students attended the event, who are from Yunnan University, Shandong University, West China Normal University, Tianjin Normal University, Ningbo University, and Qujing Normal College.

    At the opening session, Professor Xiaowei Liu, director of SWIFAR introduced the developments of the astronomy discipline in Yunnan University, and the current status and great potential for new discoveries of the 1.6-meter Multi-channel Photometric Survey Telescope (Mephisto), a cutting-edge key project initiated by our insitute and financially fully supported by YNU.   During the camp, Professor Zuhui Fan, Chun Xia, Associate Professors Bingqiu Chen, Yuanpei Yang and associated researcher Weikang Lin gave lectures on the topics of cosmology, high-energy astrophysics, Milky Way structures, time domain astronomy and observational astronomy, respectively. They were very well received stimulating many questions from the students. On the second day, associated researcher Dezi Liu and graduate student Jintao Zhen introduced the data analysis in astronomy. The students learned and performed light curve analysis using the data taken by the YNU-Mephisto telescope. In the following interaction session, a number of graduate students at YNU shared their campus life experiences. Profs. Xiaowei Liu, Zuhui Fan etc answered questions from the students and provided encouraging suggestions on graduate study and research.

    The YNU summer camp in astronomy is a great success. Many students expressed strong interests in coming to YNU to pursue their graduate study in astronomy.
