多通道测光巡天望远镜详细设计方案专家论证会召开

The panel review meeting about the Mephisto detailed design was held  at Yunnan University


2018年9月21日,多通道测光巡天望远镜详细设计方案专家论证会在云南大学呈贡校区图书馆三楼会议室举行。来自中国科学院国家天文台、紫金山天文台、上海天文台、南京天文光学技术研究所清华大学、中国科技大学等科研机构和高等学校的天文专家以及望远镜课题组成员等50余人参加了论证会,副校长赵琦华教授出席了会议。

赵琦华副校长代表学校致欢迎辞。她对远道而来的各位专家表示热烈的欢迎,希望各位专家充分讨论1.6米多通道测光巡天望远镜的详细设计方案,为云南大学的天文学科建设提供建议。中国科学院南京天文光学技术研究所的研究团队,就多通道测光巡天望远镜的总体设计方案、光学系统、结构与支撑系统、控制系统等设计方案,向专家作了汇报。专家们对课题组提出的设计方案进行了认真的质询和充分讨论,并形成论证意见。

多通道测光巡天望远镜研制项目,是云南大学"双一流"建设中的重大平台建设项目由云南大学中科院南京天光所、中科院云南天文台共同研制,由云南大学天文学学科带头人刘晓为教授主持。该项目研制成功后,将是国际首台大视场、多通道、高精度测光巡天望远镜,预期在宇宙暂现源的探测与研究等时域天文学研究领域取得突破性成果。


                   

On September 21, 2018, the panel review meeting about the detailed optical design for Multi-channel Photometric Survey Telescope (Mephisto) was held at Yunnan University. In total, more than 50 experts and Mephisto project members from National Astronomical Observatories (NAOC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Purple Mountain Observatory, CAS, Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, CAS, Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics and Technology (NIAOT), NAOC, CAS, Tsinghua University and the University of Science and Technology of China participated the meeting. Professor Qihua Zhao, Vice President of Yunnan University, also joined the meeting.

In the opening remark, Professor Qihua Zhao expressed her deep appreciation and warm welcome for the experts coming to the meeting. She wished a careful review about the optical design, which is crucial for the success of Mephisto. The optical design team from NIAOT reported to the review committee the overall design including the optical, structure and supporting, and control systems for Mephisto. After detailed inquiries and discussions, the committee formed a final review report about the Mephisto design, which is a milestone for the project.

The Mephisto project is an integral and important part of the efforts by SWIFAR, within the framework of “the double world-class universities” plan, to push forward the astrophysics studies at Yunnan University. Its unique design with large field-of-view and multichannel cameras distinguishes it as an excellent survey telescope for time domain science.
