中国西南天文研究所刘晓为教授率团参加第三十届国际天文学联合会大会

A delegation led by Xiaowei Liu attended IAU XXXth GA

2018年8月20日至31日，第三十届国际天文学联合会（International Astronomical Union，以下简称IAU）大会在奥地利维也纳举行。来自世界89个国家和地区的3000多人参加了会议。中国西南天文研究所刘晓为教授率团参加了会议。

刘晓为教授自2012年9月起担任IAU执行委员会副主席。2015年，IAU与挪威科学院联合成立青年天文学家办公室（Office for Young Astronomers），负责运行青年天文学家国际学校（International Schools for Young Astronomers，ISYA）项目。该办公室由刘晓为教授担任主席的青年天文学家办公室指导委员会负责。在过去的三年里，刘晓为教授组织国际招聘，为青年天文学家国际学校遴选任命了年富力强的校长、副校长，修改完善了IAU与挪威科学院的双边协议，为青年天文学家国际学校争取了更多的经费支持。2016年8月和2018年4月，刘晓为教授分别赴伊朗德黑兰和埃及开罗为青年天文学家国际学校授课。

应大会邀请，刘晓为教授在IAU第349次学术会议“同一片天空下：百年IAU”上，作了题为"中国危机"（The China Crisis）的口头报告。此外，作为IAU执委会副主席，他还参加了本次IAU大会的多次工作会议、青年天文学家研讨会、IAU百年庆典等专题活动。

黄样副教授荣获首届IAU优秀博士论文奖。应大会邀请，他在星际介质和近场宇宙学部（Division H: Interstellar Matter and Local Universe）组织的研讨会上，以“基于LAMOST银河系光谱巡天的星系运动学和动力学研究”为题作了口头特邀报告；他还在IAU第348次学术会议“21世纪天体位置测量：穿越黑暗和可居住带前沿”上，以“利用LAMOST光谱巡天数据系统搜寻超高速星”为题，作了口头报告。陈丙秋副教授和刘项琨副教授分别在星际介质和近场宇宙学部、星系和宇宙学部的会议上进行了海报展示。

中国西南天文研究所还在中国天文学会展台，展示了研究所和多通道测光巡天望远镜（MEPHISTO）的海报。通过海报宣传、项目介绍等方式，向国内外参会学者宣传学校，介绍研究所以及正在研制的多通道测光巡天望远镜项目。

本届大会是迄今为止规模最大的天文学会议，持续时间两周。大会以学术会议（Symposia）、专题研讨会（Focus Meetings）、学部会议（Division Days）、特邀报告会（Invited Discourses）、公众报告会（Public lectures）、天文台展览等形式展开，内容涉及天文学的各个领域，包括恒星行星系统、星系演化、巡天进展、未来大型望远镜项目初期预研、科普教育、天文学发展历史、IAU百年发展史、天文学与其相关领域的联系等方方面面，包括7场学术会议，15场专题研讨会，9场IAU学部会议和数十次IAU科学委员会、工作组工作会议。本次大会接纳了阿尔及利亚、塞浦路斯、加纳、约旦、马达加斯加、摩洛哥、莫桑比克、斯洛文尼亚、叙利亚和阿拉伯联合酋长国等10个国家成员，以及1248名新申请加入的个人会员。

国际天文学联合会（International Astronomical Union，IAU），于1919年7月在布鲁塞尔成立，是世界各国天文学术团体联合组成的非政府性学术组织，其宗旨是组织国际学术交流，推动国际协作，促进天文学的发展。2018年IAU第三十届大会后，国际天文学联合会有83个国家机构会员，分布在95个国家和地区的13500名个人会员。中国天文学会于1935年加入国际天文学联合会。

国际天文学联合会每年召开若干次学术会议和专题研讨会。自1922年起，IAU每3年召开一次全体大会，开展不同天文领域研究成果的研讨会，并讨论IAU整体的活动方针，遴选新一届IAU执委会及下属委员会成员，被誉为天文学界的奥林匹克。IAU设执行委员会，有主席1人，副主席6人，秘书长1人，助理秘书长1人。下设9个学部，40余个专业委员会。2012年8月，第二十八届国际天文学联合会大会在北京举行。

                     

The XXXth General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) was held on August 20-31, 2018 in Vienna, Austria. More than 3000 attendees from 89 countries across the world participated the meeting. A delegation from SWIFAR led by Director Prof. Xiaowei Liu, a Vice-president and a member of the Executive Committee of the IAU, were amongst the participants.

During the Assembly, Prof. Liu gave an invited oral presentation on “The China Crisis” to the IAUS349 “Under One Sky: The IAU Centenary Symposium”. Associate Professor Yang Huang gave an invited presentation to the IAUS348 “21st Century Astrometry: crossing the Dark and Habitable frontiers”. Being one out of nine IAU first round PhD Prize winners, Yang was invited to give a talk at the Division Day of Division H “Interstellar Matter and Local Universe”, presenting his PhD thesis and followup research work. Associate Professors Bingqiu Chen and Xiangkun Liu exhibited posters to Division meetings of Division H Interstellar matter and Local Universe and Division J Galaxies and Cosmology. In addition, the delegation presented posters at the Chinese astronomy exhibition booth, introducing the newly established SWIFAR and the project Mephisto currently under construction at SWIFAR.

Being one of the largest astronomy gatherings, the IAU GA XXX hosted 7 Symposia, 15 Focus Meetings, 9 Division Meetings and dozens of Commission Meetings, covering nearly all fields of astronomy and astrophysics. The Assembly also admitted 10 new National Members: Algeria, Cyprus, Ghana, Jordan, Madagascar, Morocco, Mozambique, Slovenia, Syria and the United Arab Emirates, as well as 1248 new individual members.
