王青德教授来访并作学术报告

Prof. Q. Daniel Wang visited SWIFAR

2017年12月22号，来自美国马萨诸塞大学的王青德教授应邀对云南大学中国西南天文研究所进行了访问。

王教授在格物楼1101室为研究所及物理与天文学院师生作了学术报告，介绍如何利用引力透镜效应研究活动星系核及黑洞的物理性质。报告会现场十分热烈，师生们就报告内容及相关科学问题与王教授进行了互动交流。

王教授还与研究所师生进行了座谈，内容涉及黑洞性质以及利用引力透镜效应对其进行观测研究所遇到的困难。师生们与王教授交流了各自的研究工作。通过此次交流互动，研究所师生受益颇多。

王青德教授简介：

王青德教授于1990年获哥伦比亚大学天文学博士学位，现任美国马萨诸塞大学安姆斯特分校天文系全职教授。王教授的研究领域涉及致密星、星系以及星系团等领域。他在银河系中心附近X射线气体以及星系团的X射线辐射等研究方面做出了突出贡献。王教授目前的研究集中于利用观测、理论和数值分析等方法研究不同条件下的高能反馈机制，以深入理解星系中的物质及能量传输等物理性质。

Prof. Q. Daniel Wang from University of Massachusetts Amherst visited SWIFAR on December 22, 2017. He gave a colloquium presentation on probing black hole astrophysics through gravitational lensing effects, followed by active interactions with the audience.  He also had an extensive and stimulating discussion with the faculty and students of SWIFAR on various topics in astrophysics, including gravitational lensing, black holes and AGNs.

Brief introduction to Q. Daniel Wang:

Q. Daniel Wang is now a full professor in the Department of Astronomy, University of Massachusetts Amherst. He received his Ph.D. in astronomy in 1990 from Columbia University. His research interests cover a wide range of topics, from compact stars to galaxies and clusters of galaxies. His renowned studies include dissecting X-ray-emitting gas around the center of Milky Way and X-ray mapping for clusters out to the viral radius. His recent research focuses on understanding the matter and energy flows in galaxies by investigating various high-energy feedback processes via observations as well as theoretical and numerical analyses.
