Colloquium on Nov. 14, 2023

Formation and evolution of peculiar pulsar binaries

Speaker: Yunlang Guo (NJU)

Venue: SWIFAR Building 2111

Time: 15:00 PM, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023

Abstract:

Pulsar binaries are important objects for revealing the evolutionary history of close neutron star (NS) binaries, such as the accretion process, the magnetic braking and the accretion disc structure, etc. Especially, they are also potential sources of low-frequency gravitational waves. In this talk, I will introduce our recent research results of the peculiar pulsar binaries. We explained the origin of black widow pulsars with companion masses < 0.01M☉, and provided a formation channel for the isolated millisecond pulsars. In addition, we also studied the Type Ia supernovae and the electron-capture supernovae in NS+He star binaries.
